Samuel & Son, along with Knill James Accountants and Lloyds Bank Agriculture once again sponsored an annual R.A.B.I Farmhouse Breakfast fundraiser event organised as part of the national Farmhouse Breakfast Week, kindly hosted by Mike and Louise Possegger at Spring Barn Farm Park, Lewes on 5th February.
Sally Field, the R.A.B.I South East Regional Manager and R.A.B.I Committee members were delighted with the turnout for the event and the total raised was a brilliant £620 so thank you to everyone who attended and supported it.
Samuel & Son will be involved in, and supporting other R.A.B.I fundraising events throughout 2014, details of which will be posted on our website in due course.
R.A.B.I have become increasingly important for the farming community as Sally Field explains:
“In the past two years our workload has risen considerably in response to the extremes of weather which farmers have had to cope with, from drought to floods, spring snows and blizzards, and now floods once more. The financial impact of this on farming families has been huge.
The Government estimated farm incomes dropped by 30% last year and we are seeing the impact of this on the people we support, many more of whom are now of working age.
Within Sussex in 2013 we paid out £52,481 and helped 41 beneficiaries in the county. Most of our work is funded by public donations, events arranged by county committees, and support from businesses and community groups, hence your continued support is greatly appreciated.”
